With temperatures on the rise, it’s time to roll out a few new summer beer selections. For summer we like both the refreshing and fruit forward beers such as Wheat Beers, traditional Belgian White Beers, Pilsners, Saisons, Lambics and Lagers.
One of my favorites is the Goose Island Sophie which falls into the Belgian Saison Style or Farmhouse Ale. Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sophie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sophie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons. Sophie is made by Goose Island Brewing out of Chicago, Illinois. This beer seems to be very limited in supply so grab a taste this summer while its still around!
